About the Author
Heather Wright-Porto, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and Computer/Database Programmer
Stamping, card making, scrapbooking, and paper crafting provide me a great creative outlet from every day life. I am a proud mamma of 2 (Michaela and Luke), happily married for 8 years to my husband Gerry, and have two wonderful dogs (Koda and LuLu) and two lizards (Lizzie and Leo).
My Day Job
Professionally, I have been developing databases and programming for 15+ years including MS Access, SQL Server, Oracle, Cold Fusion and other web programming platforms, HTML/JavaScript and Visual Basic. I was also a computer trainer for a while teaching adults MS Office and many graphic design applications like Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark. I have a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems. So, blogging and assisting people with Typepad and Blogger came naturally for me and I am very happy to
help!
My Stampin’ Business
I have been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator since Oct. 2006 and love it! I started my business because I love to stamp and have a lot of fun creating homemade cards and gifts. There is nothing better then seeing the look on my customer’s faces when they’ve completed a project!
My customers are my friends. Helping them create that perfect gift for that someone special or just for themselves is a wonderful feeling and very rewarding. I have a lot of pride in my work but it is more than just stamps and ink—it’s about sharing a part of yourself with the people you love.
Blog Services and Tools for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators
While building my stamping business I created my first blog, http://www.HandStampedByHeather.com. I use it to showcase my artwork, my samples from past and upcoming workshops. I also have links to my monthly newsletters which detail upcoming events and special promotions.
Although I enjoy blogging and really like the way my blog has come along, it can be time consuming to post regularly. It was this point as well as email from a fellow demonstrator (asking for help) which made me want to launch this business (Blogs By Heather) and help other demonstrators. I think a blog is a great asset for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and I want to help others showcase their artwork, promote themselves, and more.
The blog’s exposure and all the tutorials have opened up new opportunities and leads to business outside Stampin’ Up! demonstrators as well. I want people to be as happy as I am with my blog - that is my goal.
